Podstrana has a very unusual scenery: it is located on south side of Perun hill, flowing from its top to the Adriatic shore, which is actually a 6 km long beach, with all the furnishings and amenities throughout its length. The river Žrnovnica is western border of this municipality, alongside which well-preserved river vegetation hides pebbly walkway, about 2 km long, that follows riverside from its mouth to the Peta Peruna (Heel of Perun, a quarry). In ancient times, Illyrian and Roman people recognized the unusual beauty and diversity of this region and settled here. Present-day inhabitants and visitors can enjoy the same beauty, made greater by remains of those ancient times.
