The island of Korčula in Dalmatia is located just across the peninsula Pelješac. It has a very comfortable Mediterranean climate, warm summers and relaxing winters. The island offers a variety of natural beauties, sandy and pebble beaches. In a vicinity of the city of Korčula there is an archipelago, a group of small island with no inhabitants. You can choose between many different excursions that the island offers, and the favourite one is to the islands Mljet in Lastovo, or to the peninsula Pelješac. In the city of Korčula, you can visit some historical monuments, such as the Gothic-Reneissance cathedral of St. Marko, city hall, the Franciscan monastery, museum of Marco Polo, beautiful beaches and many restaurants offering traditional food. The city is interestingly built, surrounded by city walls, and the streets are distributed in fish bones which allows free air circuit and defence from strong winds. You can get to know the traditional dance called Moreška. The beautiful island Korčula is definitely worth visiting.
